In May of last year, my partner retired from the U.S. Marine Corps. During his 22 years of service, he could have been a poster child for the corps’ reputation for fit, healthy servicemen and women. He’s not “fit” in the sense you would imagine a marine to be; he isn’t a bodybuilder. Instead, he’s an athlete — a competitive runner who has racked up trophies mostly for 5K and 10K races, and for enjoyment runs an average of three marathons per year. (more…)
