The costs of the 50 drugs most prescribed for older people went up twice as fast as the rate of inflation between January 2000 and January 2001, according to Families USA.

And that’s not a new thing, the health consumer advocate organization said. Between 1996 and this year, the makers of 27 of those drugs increased their prices at least once a year.
